This summer silverorange is conducting an experiment with the normal working week. We're making it shorter.
For the past eighteen months we've been working too many hours per week. Last summer was a write-off as we had a few major projects being worked on. That work spilled into the fall and of course it kept cascading into the winter. We finally dug ourselves out from under our crippling workload this spring. We made a promise to ourselves to make this summer better than last.
For July and August of 2008 silverorange will be offline on Fridays.
Our hope is that this refreshing change of pace will make the remaining four work days much more effective. Our first Friday of rest is tomorrow.
We'll see how it goes.

I work at a company in the UK called Carsonified and we work a four day week every week (core hours being Monday - Thursday 9am - 6pm). It's a huge plus for me as it means more time with my young family and we all seem to achieve the same results given the time. I am sure you will all enjoy the change.

Dan,
This is great...you will all love it and be that much more productive when you are back at work on the other four days. Clearly you are a business that just gets what it takes to make a great work environment...which translates into great products and services...which makes for happy clients. You are a great example to other PEI employers...consider nominating silverorange for the upcoming family friendly business awards this fall...http://www.take30.pe.ca/home.php?page=business
Enjoy your Fridays!

Keir - That's pretty awesome that Carsonified only works 4 days a week permanently. This summer is really just an experiment for us. If it goes well it will be interesting to see what we do in the long term.
Jane - Thanks for the compliments.
