Since our car was stolen we’ve officially gone without a car. Sure, we’ve borrowed one here and there and for the past three months have enjoyed using Becky’s parent’s car while they traveled, but none-the-less I can actually say that I don’t own a car. Well that looks like it might have to change for a short time.
Becky works for my parents at Kindred Spirits, a wonderful resort in Cavendish (you should stay there).
She works four or five days a week all falling between Monday to Friday. She starts work in the middle of May and will work until September. She also has someone who will be car pooling with her.
We’d prefer to not have to make a long term car commitment for a summer’s worth of driving. But the solution has to be economical enough to make driving to Cavendish a viable work option. Can anyone think of a possible solution?
Some ideas we’ve had:
- Buy a used car and resell at the end of the summer. Seems quite inefficient and could have all of the “used car” problems associated with it.
- Rent a car. I haven’t actually researched this but I assume that renting a car for four months is not really a good deal.
- Find someone who doesn’t use their car during the week and share/rent it. This gives the person who owns the car some extra $ and keeps one more car from having to be made/sold/used.
- Try and organize some sort of Cavendish employee/worker carpool system. I’d like to think that a number of people are coming and going to Cavendish at all hours. The sheer thought of organizing this is a daunting task.
Does anyone have another possible solution (don’t suggest a scooter) or maybe a car kicking around that you’d like to make some money off of this summer?
