As you may remember from last year Becky and I have a pact to visit one new country each and every year. We started off by visiting Costa Rica for our honeymoon. The next year (last year) we visited Peru. We have finally decided on where we're headed for 2006; Venezuela.
We'll be in Venezeula from May 5 until June 28. This trip will be quite different than the last two. Other than a few side trips we'll be staying put in the same location for the full eight weeks. Why aren't we exploring more? This will be my first remote working experiment. This trip is largerly inspired by Peter's travel/work experiment in France last year.
While the Venezuela mainland is gorgeous we have opted to spend our eight weeks on Isla Margarita. We'll be renting an apartment in Porlamar, the island's largest city. Our apartment looks out onto the beach, includes high speed DSL, full cable (to watch the amazing race finale), two bedrooms, kitchen, etc.. This setting will hopefuly allow me to work as I would from our home in Sherwood.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that all will go well. We'll keep you updated about our trip on our travel site http://travel.ceoblues.com.

I... am... so... jealous... right... now.
With high speed internet you will be set, toss in a VOIP telephone so your fellow oranges can contact you and you will be set. I wish I could do that, i'd be a traveling fool.
Can't wait to read about your experiences and how things go. Might be good to throw in some tips on making the working remotely from out of the country work better, etc.

Carl,
You're spoiling future posts! :-) We have just switched over to an all VoIP phone system here at our office. My officemates will be able to transfer calls to me, route the main office number to me when no one else is in, and have the endless banter that usually goes on in person. VoIP is actually a big part of what's allowing me to do this. Now if we can only get the sound to stop dropping out on our IAX2 phones...

South America, eh? You'll need to stop in Vancouver for a day or two on your way...right? Right? C'mon!
