Most people see their jobs as an evil necessity that allows them to pay the mortgage, heat the house, put food on the table, and maybe go to Cancun for a week in February. For these folks fun and work have sadly never come together. Luckily for me, we here at silverorange see the value in having fun. We try to make work fun and challenging plus we also just like to have fun while at work. If the project, or component of a project, we’re working on is boring we often stop working and talk/laugh. In the last six years to break up our days we’ve had indoor bike races, games of tag, destruction of technology, wrestling, bouts of cursing, high-fives, rock-outs, lunch, various computer games, spontaneous purchases, etc. No day is the same here. As I write this post (actually written last week) there is a group of slices in the front room busting a gut looking at old photos. Specifically this one.
Over the years we’ve been very lucky that we have had the choice of what work we take on and when we take it on. This has allowed us the flexibility to live on Kraft Dinner while severely addicted to Counterstrike, scale back work for those who get married, go away, or become educated. We place fun and life above profit. Work is a significant amount of each of our lives, why shouldn’t we make it enjoyable?
About once a week at work I laugh until I cry. I think it’s good for my health.

Very true. We try to do many of the same things at the office and it sure makes a difference in how everyone feels.
That being said, we're no where as good as you cats at having fun at the office. I think yours and Bryght's offices are the only ones I've ever visited just because I was bored and needed a laugh. I remember one time I was visiting the Slicedome 2.0 (no reference to web buzzwords implied) and Steve called in a serious voice "Dan, we need to have a meeting right now." I thought it was something drastic until I heard the sounds of Mario Kart.

I would have to totally, 100% agree with this post. In the past 9 months since i've started working at silverorange, i too have, at least once a week, laughed until i have cried. Sometimes multiple times a week. Sometimes multiple times a day. Work really is a fun place. And Steven Garrity might be the funniest man on the planet...

I find myself to be quite hilarious and generally a joy to work with.
