During our honeymoon in Costa Rica Becky, my wife, and I decided that we would visit one new country every year for as long as we lived. That is until we’re incontinent and are no longer allowed on planes. This year it’s Peru. Flights are booked. Accommodations are being reserved and plans have been made! We’re quite excited.
Why Peru? We’re not quite sure but it involved getting a good deal on a Peru travel guide at a bookstore. We also loved Costa Rica, but not just because of the scenery and weather. We found the people there to be some of the most friendly and sincere people we’ve ever met. We also feel that being immersed in another culture (Costa Rica is not drastically different from here but much more so than say…Brighton, England) is much more rewarding than just sitting on a tour bus and snapping photos of “the culture”. So no official country tours for us. We’re planning everything ourselves.
So on April 27, 2005 we’re getting onto a plane and heading south of the equator for two weeks. We’ve also managed to convince four other friends to come along (I have no link for the fourth friend). So even if the country is boring we’ll have a great time.
So this post is to publicly solicit advice from those who have been to Peru. Please respond and tell us what we need to know! Also, what county we go to in 2006 is now officially open for suggestions.

Sounds like lots of fun Dan. I've never been to that part of the world. I have been, however, to Thailand. I suggest that as your 2006 destination. It will be costly to get there but dirt cheap when you do. The accomodations are stellar in the south (so i heard, i went to the north). The weather is excellent (go in Februrary or March), and the food is nothing short of amazing. I can hook you up with a Thai phrase book and Ian could most definitely suggest some spots to visit and stay. I could talk about it all day but I may wait for another time and on my own blog. But consider it for sure.

I'm pretty sure you can still fly if you're incontinent. And awesome llama.
