I would add tea to that - if you are a tea drinker. The best tea (perhaps expect for the insanely rare) is cheaper than the worst beer in a crappy bar.

Jevon -

Alan: Word on the street is that this year has been/will be one of the best in recent times for the global tea harvest. No joke!

Steven Garrity -

Right on. I would add mouse and keyboard - though the most expensive is not always the best.

If we're adding junk food items then here is a definate list of things not to buy on the cheap:

Cereal

Chips

Pop

Rob -

I agree with Isaac on the top two. However, pop is a splitable hair. Coke can't be RC Cola. But, Black Cherry is a fine beverage which has no brand name counterpart.

Alan -

I buy the cheapest "ceral" I can get my hands on.

Isaac -

I don't know what you're talking about Alan*.

Personally I think you should never "go cheap" on coffee. Here in the UK original Nescafe is far too popular. On the subject of coffee a colleague of mine who has recently returned from Toronto brought back a tin of Tim Hortons coffee, can any of you Canadians vouch for it?

I also totally agree with Steven about mouse and keyboard being the proud owner of the recently released black cordless keyboard and mouse from Microsoft. However I doubt it has increased my productivity one percent.

Tims is the business, baby. And a large is under 70p. My uncle and aunt from Scotland can't get over it. Quality and volume. Too band the donuts scuk - oh, they don't and they cost about 30p each. Why the hell does the UK do fast food so poorly. Jellied eels? Mushy peas?

Dan James -

Having thought about this more I may add "meat" to the list.

Keir -

Alan, thanks for the advice. I may well crack open the Tims coffee this morning! Forgot to mention I also received a Tim Hortons travel mug which looks pretty smart. You people certainly have it good. A Starbucks regular coffee here is about £1.50 and that is before you add anything "fancy" such as steamed milk!!! I would love to pay 70p for quality and volume.

Fair point about Jellied eels, a strange East End custom I agree however mushy peas done well are delicious, piled high on chips (fries) can't be beaten. Apart from that our fast food outlets are pretty much all North American rip offs without the smiles and service!

Alan -

Isaac - you didn't misspell. You just underspelled.

Dave -

Tim's coffee has nicotene in it.

You've been warned.

jc -

I see this hasn't been used since 03 but what the heck: Tim Hortons coffee does not have nicotene or any other drug in it. Expansion to Britain was thought of a while ago but dismissed.
